General Description

Assist public relations & communications professionals in the University Relations Office.

Essential Job Duties

• Assist with a variety of public relations efforts, which may include writing press releases, interviewing students and faculty for press coverage and pitching story ideas to local media

• Assist with social media coverage on the University’s official social media platforms

• Assist with the tracking of media coverage

• Misc. office duties: greeting guests, answering phones, filing, and additional office duties as assigned

• Work with University Relations team members to develop a campus-wide marketing calendar

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Effective communication skills including knowledge of AP style

• Excellent grammar skills

• Experience with social media and knowledge of appropriateness for social media posts

• Strong proofreading skills

• Self-motivated

• Detail-oriented and organized

• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

• Must be comfortable working on Macintosh OS

• Must be able to maintain composure and act in a professional manner

Preferred Major Preference will be given to Communication Studies, Mass Communication, English and Marketing majors
